Drought is intensifying human-wildlife conflict in Zambia. The 2023–2024 farming season saw little to no rainfall. This stunted agricultural productivity and forced wild animals to leave national parks in search of food and water, causing the destruction of crops, the devastation of livelihoods and increased danger to both people and wildlife. WILD Cover funds drought insurance alongside a compensation fund to protect farmers’ incomes through fair, timely pay-outs for losses. This dual approach strengthens farmers’ resilience and promotes peaceful coexistence between people and wildlife.
AB Entheos works with governments, private sector, and development partners to design and implement inclusive finance solutions across Africa.
